Rebecca Maxey was born and raised in
Alaska, and holds an LLB from the University of Edinburgh in
Scotland, and an LLM from Boston University School of Law where she
completed course and clinical work at Harvard Law School.
Since returning to Alaska, she has worked in
the field of immigration and asylum law beginning in 1997 as a law
clerk, before becoming an attorney and founding her own firm in
September 2001.
Through her law practice, Ms. Maxey has
mentored numerous students from local high schools, the University
of Alaska, and several law schools as they have learned invaluable
skills as budding professionals and future attorneys.
She is a contributor to Law of Asylum in the
United States, the major asylum law treatise used by Immigration
Judges, Asylum Officers, and attorneys as a comprehensive resource
for up to date guidance on asylum law and practice.
In her spare time, she travels widely,
enjoys gourmet cooking and gardening, and keeps a yoga mat in her
office.
